Where we need to be

Leaving Oregon always brings about a wave of emotions.

Coming to Oregon for Christmas is the climax of the year, where we fill our days with family, fun and of course food!  It's this sort of surreal way of living, where we come and have no responsiblity really, and bounce from one activity to the next, with no lingering thoughts of groceries or other household maintenance.  We can just be.

Then the transition hits you in the face, like you just got slugged with the stark reality that life just isn't that way, nor should it be.  Going from a big home filled with noise and fun and distraction, to an emtpy home in a far away place with very little going on.  I have dreaded these last few days leading up to our departure, saying goodbye to Medford and the majority of our families along with it.  Saying goodbye to movie nights and family dinners, or even just a chat face to face, with a short but needed squeeze afterward.

But, I know Texas is where we are supposed to be, and where we really need to be right now.  We have grown incredibly close as a couple, and will continue to grow close as our family begins to grow.  We have made loyal and dear friends, who we rely on just as much as we would family.  We are beginnig to find ourselves in a very different way, without anything familiar around us.  It is a little lonely and at times depressing, but more than that we are coming to find that Texas is making us better.
